I'm a full time mom to two wonderful boys who are my pride and joy! As a new mom to my older son, Declan, I tried everything in my power to get him to sleep: rocking, feeding, deep knee bends! You name it! After 9 months of sleepless nights, my precious boy became far too heavy to rock, and my husband and I were far too exhausted to continue another day in this sleepless cycle. I knew if I wanted to enjoy my job as a stay at home Mom, I had to reach out for help. After working with a Sleep Consultant, our lives were forever changed. Two and half years later, I still have an phenomenal sleeper, and now two phenomenal sleepers! I became increasingly interested in the science behind sleep and how beneficial sleep training my son was for our entire family. My sons are happier, healthier kids because they love their sleep and I'm a better Mom because of their consistent, predictable sleep schedules. I want to give other families that same gift of quality sleep!
You're worthy!
My Philosophy
There are many mixed messages floating around the internet about sleep training your baby. All parents are different and everyone is just trying to do what makes them feel most comfortable and what is best for their family. I can tell you from firsthand experience that based on my limited knowledge at the time about the sleep training process, I was very nervous to begin this process with my son. I soon learned that there were more ways to get my baby to sleep than I had thought! A couple years later, through becoming certified as a sleep consultant, I learned that achieving quality sleep for your child is just as much about their schedule and the times they are being put to sleep throughout the day, as it is about the method you choose to teach them independent sleep. The process is intricate and very involved, and I feel it is important for parents to know that the sleep training method is just one piece to the puzzle.
There are numerous different methods to choose from ranging from the most gentle and gradual, to more direct. It is incredibly important to me that the method a parent chooses to teach their child independent sleep, matches their parenting style, their child's temperament, and is something everyone in the family feels comfortable with. This ranges from going into the room when your child wakes and picking them up to console them for a few minutes, to leaving them for a couple of minutes to see if they can fall back to sleep on their own, to increasing check-in intervals. What sleep training is ultimately teaching your child is to be able to self-soothe and fall asleep independently so that they do not need you to help them do so. Just like adults, babies fluctuate back and forth between stages of deep and lighter sleep all throughout the night, which after ~4 months frequently causes them to wake!
If you are ready to teach your baby how to be an independent sleeper, I am here to support you, cheer you on, and make you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I was in your shoes!
